ACE Computer Core

The powerhouse behind data driven discovery

At the heart of ACE-Uganda lies the Compute Core-our dedicated data center and server room.

Designed for speed, scale, and reliability, the Compute Core provides the computational muscle needed to process massive datasets, run complex models, and accelerate life-saving research.

What the Compute Core Enables

The infrastructure within the Compute Core supports a wide range of advanced research activities, including:

  1. Full microbial genome sequencing: Process and analyze entire genomes of bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens to track outbreaks and understand drug resistance.
  2. Large-scale data analysis: Handle massive datasets from genomics, epidemiology, and clinical research that would overwhelm standard computers.
  3. Hosting large databases: Store and serve reference databases, genomic libraries, and research repositories for use by the broader scientific community.
  4. Regional mirrors of important reference databases: Reduce latency and improve access for African researchers by hosting local copies of globally significant databases.
  5. Data science and genomics: Accelerate computational work in statistical modeling, population genetics, and bioinformatics.
  6. Modeling and imaging visualization: Run complex simulations and render high-resolution scientific images.
  7. Machine learning and artificial intelligence: Train and deploy AI models for applications such as drug resistance prediction.

By housing this level of computational capacity within Uganda, ACE-Uganda ensures that African researchers no longer need to rely solely on overseas infrastructure for advanced data analysis. From microbial genomics to AI-driven drug discovery, the tools are now local.
