Biography

Magdalene Namuswe is a Bioinformatician at the African Centre of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Data-Intensive Sciences (ACE), Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. She holds a BSc in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry and Botany) (First Class Honours) and an MSc in Bioinformatics from Makerere University, and is an NIH D43 Fellow in Cancer Genomics and Genomic Data Science. Her expertise spans whole exome sequencing, RNA-seq analysis, gene fusion detection, variant calling, and single-cell RNA-seq, with proficiency in tools such as GATK, BWA-MEM, HISAT2, STAR, and Arriba. Her interests lie in cancer genomics, translational genomics, pharmacogenomics, and the application of machine learning in bioinformatics, with a particular focus on advancing genomic research in African populations.
