Rodgers Kimera

Rodgers Kimera is a Senior Systems Engineer at the African Centers of Excellence (ACE) in Bioinformatics and Data-Intensive Sciences, under the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), through Research Data and Communication Technologies (RDCT). He leads the ICT technical section, overseeing the design, deployment, and management of advanced research computing infrastructure that supports bioinformatics and data-intensive science work across Africa. Rodgers holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Busitema University and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Victoria University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Information Technology, focusing on performance evaluation and predictive modeling for High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters in African research environments. He supports research centers in Uganda, Mali, and Nigeria, providing technical leadership in HPC, Linux systems administration, virtualization, federated identity management, cloud and server technologies, Open OnDemand, open-source solutions, and machine learning. He has extensive experience deploying scalable HPC environments and research cyberinfrastructure to support collaborative scientific research. Alongside his engineering role, Rodgers is an academician and researcher with interests in distributed systems, Artificial Intelligence, and High-Performance Computing. He is committed to strengthening computational science capacity in Africa through technical training, mentorship, and collaborative research initiatives.
