Biography
Shahiid is a Bioinformatics Scientist and mentor at ACE-Uganda, a lecturer in Bioinformatics at Makerere University, and a Research Fellow at the Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC). Currently, he is a MakDarta PhD fellow specializing in Bioinformatics and Data Science. His research interests lie in utilizing genomics, genetics, and bioinformatics to deepen our understanding of infectious diseases, with a focus on host-pathogen interactions, pathogen molecular surveillance, antimicrobial resistance, malaria parasite genomics, bacterial genomics, population genetics, and viral genomics. He is dedicated to capacity building in genomics and bioinformatics, aiming to nurture and empower the next generation of bioinformatics scientists.
