Shakirah Namutebi

Shakirah Namutebi is a biomedical laboratory technologist and MSc fellow in Bioinformatics at ACE. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Makerere University and is currently receiving advanced training in Bioinformatics and data science. Her technical skills include metagenome assembly and annotation, Linux-based bioinformatics workflows, and data analysis using R. Her research interests focus on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the genomic characterization of microbial communities, particularly the gut resistome in vulnerable populations such as children living with HIV. She is building expertise in integrating genomic and computational approaches to support infectious disease research in resource-limited settings.
